About Us
Financial Literacy Orientation (FLO)
What is Project Flo?
Project FLO is an initiative established to help shape the future of Guyana through education. The initiative focuses on developing cognitive skills in financial literacy for Guyanese youth who are making the transition into adulthood. By educating students in financial literacy, Project FLO aims to disrupt generational poverty cycles by introducing the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors needed for a future of financial stability.
"Learning Money Before Earning Money"
The initiative is dedicated to empowering the next generation of Guyanese leaders through its programs and initiatives. It is committed to providing young people with the tools and skills they need to make informed financial decisions and build a better future for themselves and their families. Project FLO aims to be a catalyst for change, creating a new generation of financially literate and empowered individuals in Guyana.
Project FLO also supports some of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals:
Disrupting cycles of generational
poverty by introducing the right
knowledge, attitudes and behaviours
needed for a future of financial
stability.
Creating equitable access to a sound education in financial literacy across the length and breadth of Guyana.
Closing the gender gap in financial
literacy. Educating and empowering
young women to effectively participate in
economic activities and make sound
financial decisions.
Project Flo & The One Guyana Initiative
Project FLO is committed to supporting the “One-Guyana” initiative and its goal of reducing inequalities in access to educational opportunities. We believe that every student, regardless of their background or location, deserves the chance to learn and succeed. That’s why our mission is to work towards equitable access to sound education in financial literacy for students across the length and breadth of Guyana. By providing young people with the knowledge and skills they need to make informed financial decisions, we hope to empower them to build a better future for themselves and their families.
Project FLO Has The Endorsement Of The Deputy Governor Of The Bank Of Guyana
The lesson plans being used in our workshops were provided by the Bank of Guyana. The Bank of Guyana shares the common sentiment that financial literacy is a dire need in our society, that should be learned as early as possible; ideally before leaving school and entering the job market.
